National Confederation of Dalit & Adivasi Organisations (NACDAOR)
NACDAOR is the national platform for more than 2200 Dalit Adivasi organisations spread across 23 states of India. NACDAOR came up as a response to the caste-bias reflected in the mainstream media during the Anti-Mandal Commission Report agitations. To break the isolation of Dalit organizations, National Conference of Dalit organizations from all over the country in the year 2001, which gave birth to the National Confederation of Dalit & Adivasi Organisations (NACDAOR) which became the national platform of organisations led by Dalits, Adivasis and other socially excluded sections. NACDAOR presently has a nationwide network of committed volunteers working for the empowerment of the Dalits, Adivasis and other socially excluded communities.
Being a vibrant movement of the Dalits, NACDAOR has acquired a prominent place in the contemporary social movements of India. NACDAOR has been the founder of World Dignity Forum and an active promoter and supporter of World Social Forum in India. As a core member of Wada Na Todo Campaign (Indian version of Keep Your Promise Campaign), NACDOR has led the ‘Dalit Voice’ of Wada Na Todo Campaign. Its chairman is the global coordinator of the Social Exclusion Task Force of Global Call for Action against Poverty (GCAP) and has been the member of the steering committee in National Planning Commission related to SCs/STs.
Concretizing larger Dalit agenda, NACDOR is actively involved in improving Dalit Health, consolidating Dalit Economy, encouraging Dalit Culture, developing Dalit Media, promoting Dalit Entrepreneurship, building Dalit Perspective, educating Dalit Leadership, training Dalit Activists, lobbying with Governmental/non-Governmental institutions, agencies etc and voicing Dalit concerns in national, international processes, movements and initiatives.
It has promoted, created and strengthened various campaigns for SC/ST rights such as National Campaign on Nutrition for Dignity, Fair Share Campaign, Fair Budget Campaign, Rashtriya Dalit Mahila Andolan, Dalit Adivasi Land Rights Campiagn etc.
